Recorder Control Accessories

VCRs and digital recorders used in the CCTV industry allow remote control through a variety of methods. The most common methods are IR-controlled (identical to what is offered in the consumer industry), resistive ladder-controlled (typically via a hardwired remote), and serial communication controlled (e.g., via RS-232).

The AD100 series of recorder control devices allows for remote control of these types of recorders via the MegaPower™ 48, 168, 1024 matrix switcher/controller systems (directly from the AD2088 full system keyboard). This enables users to have integrated control of a wide variety of the most popular types of recorders.

The recorder controller is the CPU of the recorder interface network, enabling programming (via RS-485) of various recorder interface modules. Just one recorder controller can accommodate the entire network. Up to 128 different interfaces can be connected to the recorder controller in a daisy-chain configuration.

The various recorder interface modules, each of which is connected to the recorder controller, also link directly to the individual recorders. The IR Interface Module controls up to 16 IR-controlled recorders, each of which can be a different type of recorder. The Resistive Ladder Interface Module controls up to eight resistive ladder recorders, each of which can be a different type of recorder. And the RS-232 Interface Module controls up to eight RS-232 recorders.

A single network can accommodate up to 2,048 IR recorders, 1,024 resistive ladder recorders or 1,024 RS-232 recorders or a combination of all three types.

Recorder Controller

• Controls RS-232-controlled recorders
• Controls up to eight RS-232 recorders
